Edinburgh, 1831. Engraved map, 21 x 17 inches (matted: 26.5 x 22 inches). Colouring in outline. Toning to edges, a nice clean copy. From the "Edinburgh Geographical and Historical Atlas" published in 1831. A nice example of LizarsÂ’ map of Canada, Alaska and the Polar Regions. A good early map of Canada, Alaska and the Northwest part of America and contiguous regions covered by Lewis & Clark. The map provides a fine treatment of the search for the Northwest Passage and the progress of the Hudson's Bay Company in its exploration and exploitation of Western Canada.
