Description:
Four-color offset lithograph on paper. [28⅛ x 23¼ in. (71.4 x 59.2 cm)], one of a printing of 4,000. From a series of four works titled "Column" the others were named Column no. 2 (Picasso 90), Column no. 3 (Chile-F), and Column no. 4 (IB-affair). The title refers to the work's likeness to newspaper columns: full of facts, but a colorfully cartooned map of textual facts. The artist's signature is reproduced in the lower right. Discoloration to white edges, else very good. Still very pleasant to the eye. All posters are presently stored between acid free boards, flat, under weight. They will be shipped rolled, in tubes.

"Giannino's story is so absurd that it has been considered a literary invention, like the Novella del Grasso igna uolo (The Tale of Grasso the Woodworker) or Pirandello's Enrico IV. Nevertheless, just as it is certain that Giannino was not the king of France (because, apart from anything else, he never succeeded in becoming so), it is likewise certain that a Sienese merchant who claimed the Capetian crown for himself really did…
