Description:
First edition, first printing. 96 p. ; ill. ; 24 cm. Includes Index (pp. 94-96), chronology, and suggested further reading. This is a book in sort of large print, presumably intended for mature younger students.Black hardcover and dust jacket are in Near Fine to Fine condition with the exception of very minimal shelfwear, a few lightly dogeared pages, and a few very small and faint stains. Discard from the Wanipigow School Library, in protective plastic sleeve, with associated stickers, stamps, and card pocket (checked out only once, 30 years ago). From the dust jacket: "You are destined to be the leaders of a glorious new order," Adolf Hitler told the young people of Germany in 1938. This was the calculated appeal that masked the Nazi leader's plan to mold the youth of a nation to his will. His main tool would be the Hitler Youth, an organization that drew in Germany's young people with promises of a bright future and then sought to turn them into obedient servants of the Nazi regime. The Hitler Youth…

First edition.206 p.; illustrated. Gray cloth hardcover shows minor edgewear, including bumping and some sunning to spine, but is otherwise Near Fine. Dust jacket has some minor shelfwear (mainly edgewear), including minor chipping and abrasions, and is price-clipped, but otherwise Very Good+ and housed in a removable protective plastic sleeve to prevent further wear. From the dust jacket: In 1925, sixteen-year-old Stephen Dennison was convicted of having stolen $5.00 worth of chocolates. In 1960, he was still in prison, the victim of inept psychiatrists, legal incompetence, institutional corruption, and a small-town sheriff who had wanted him out of the way. [Note: see DENNISON vs. STATE OF NEW YORK: 25 N.Y.2d 904 (1969); 23 N.Y.2d 996 (1969); 49 Misc.2d 533 (1966); 28 A.D.2d 608 (1967).]The Ordeal of Stephen Dennison is the true story of Dennison's long years of anguish; of his abrupt release; and of the two lawyers who investigated the legality of his incarceration and filed suit for $115,000…

(Vinsamlegast sjáðu neðst á síðunni til þýðingar.) RARE. [At time of listing, there are no other copies for sale online and the book is held at only 11 libraries worldwide.] Language: Icelandic 482 p. ; ill. (portraits, maps); includes bibliography and index. Presumably first edition, this blue cloth hardcover with pictorial dust jacket is still in commercial plastic wrap/unopened. As such, some details listed here have been based upon library cataloguing information. The book and dust jacket appear to be in Near Fine to Fine condition, with the exception of a minor bump to top edge of rear cover and a small amount of shelfwear in places where shrinkwrap has been torn. Please see listing images. Stephan G. Stephansson (1853-1927) was a celebrated Icelandic-Canadian poet. The title of this volume of his biography relates to the title of his 6-volume collection of poetry Andvökur, so-titled for the fact that much of his poetry was written during bouts of insomnia. Description:
Presumably complimentary first edition, having the author's business card attached with original paperclip to ffep. 24 p. ; ill.; 31 cm. Includes Bibliography.
Handsome brown sort of burlap cloth hardcover with faux-leather spine and debossed title, shows minor shelfwear for its age. The textblock is comprised of thick paper with deckled bottom edge, it is somewhat aged in colour but that adds to its charm and the pages remain generally crisp and clean. The ffrep and title have some rust stains from the paperclip which holds the author's business card to the ffep.
From the introduction:
History moves a long way in four hundred years, but just as Cartier, Champlain, and other sturdy explorers of those earlier days found in Tadoussac a happy refuge for their storm-tossed ships, so the modern seeker of peace and tranquillity turns to Tadoussac for the summer attractions and recreations which have made this historic Canadian settlement a kingdom of delight.

Minor shelfwear to edges of text block and some creasing to covers and spine, otherwise Near Fine.On published version, from Diversion Books: Bill Leasure was among the least ambitious officers ever to wear the badge for the Los Angeles Police Department. He was content to work the traffic beat and only rarely gave out tickets. He also ran scams that netted him countless riches, from stealing yachts to collecting guns and cars. And he further enriched himself setting up a murder-for-hire ring. Was he in it for the thrills? Was he a cop playing both sides of the law for the fun of it? Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Edward Humes explores the lies and psychopathy that enabled Bill Leasure to fool even the most savvy of city prosecutors, his own wife."The story of L.A.'s dirtiest cop.. a riveting glimpse of the dark side of human behavior… a fascinating walk on the wild side… Humes… recounts Leasure's story with the skill of a master… Read More
