Description:
Auburn, CA: Blue Oak Press, (1975). First edition, limited issue. Number 81 of an unstated number of copies SIGNED BY HOTCHKISS on title page. Analysis of Robinson Jeffers' poetry by Hotchkiss, a poet, novelist and the founder of Blue Oak Press. Includes prefatory note by Donnan Jeffers, foreword by A. R. Kitzhaber, and introductory "Letter from William Everson." Chronology, notes, and a bibliography of sorts follow text. 8vo gilt-stamped brown imitation leather boards; illustrated with a frontispiece drawing of Jeffers and black-and-white photographs of various scenes throughout (uncredited); 254 pp. Fine in crisp, fine dust jacket. Publisher's prospectus laid in stating "the first edition will be limited to a thousand copies, with each copy being signed by the author," which seems unlikely given the dearth of copies online or in libraries (OCLC records under 100). Unaccountably scarce.
