Philadelphia / New York: J. B. Lippincott Company, 1948. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket that still has original price of $2.75 on the front flap. DJ is toned and scuffed with numerous chips and small tears along the edges. The blue cloth boards underneath are clean except for some minor scuffing and fade spots, mainly at the bottom of the rear board. There is also a stain on the top exterior page edge (see last photo). The internal binding is good pages are tight. There are no signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no underlining or torn pages. The only evidence of handwriting is in the upper corner of the front end page, we can barely see where a price was once penciled and then later erased. This front end page, along with the opposite pastedown, has a rectangular toned mark which is likely caused by a piece of paper sitting between the pages for many years.

Tall hardcover, red cloth boards with gilt on front and spine. Exterior shows spotting and staining and boards have a slight bow to them because of the large amount of foldout maps in the rear of the book. Internal binding is good on text pages though there is some pulling/cracking at boards. Pages are toned due to age and minor spotting/foxing is present. Rear end page has deterioration along the edges, possibly from insects. Large envelope in the back of the book has some tears and the flap is ready to come off. Because of this the maps were not placed back in where they were. There are a total of 10 foldout illustrations in the rear pocket, all of which appear to be in good shape.
