Description:
New York: D. Appleton & Co, 1864. Reprint. Hardcover. Good. 8vo. Pp. 460, xx, followed by eight pages of publisher's titles. Title page engraved vignette. Illustrated with engravings throughout. One color map, depicting the "Indian Families" known in 1650. Appendix, of sorts, reprints the Declaration of Independence, and Constitution. Endpapers ads. Bound in blindstamped black leather with gilt lettering over brown cloth covers. Occasional soiling and contemporary pencil marginalia. General wear to cover consistent with age. That said, the book remains well bound. A two page addendum to this edition, published prior to the conclusion of the Civil War, utterly fails to cite that conflagration. The book is now protected with a clear, archival sleeve.

London: Gaberbocchus Press Ltd, 1958. First Edition. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Very Good+/Very Good+. S. T. [Stefan Themerson]. 12mo. Pp.198. Translated by Barbara Wright. Yellow cloth, titles stamped in red on the spine. Leaf edges mildly age toned and transfer to endpapers, mild spine sag and stains to lower edge. In the photo illustrated dust jacket printed in red and black with price 18/- intact on the front flap. Jacket spine and edges a trifle darkened, light edge-wear. A humorous experiment in fiction, the story of a confrontation in a Paris bus told in 99 different ways. And a masterful transformation into English: Queneau had encouraged Barbara Wright to take on this "impossible" translation full of French puns, idioms and greater challenges. She also provides an insightful, witty preface. With chapter initial drawings and jacket design by "S. T." (publisher Stefan Themerson). Gaberbocchus specialized in such experiments in language with complimentary design. Dust jacket is now preserved…

Description:
London: Bodley Head, 1960. First Edition. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Very Good/Very Good+. Nicolas Bentley. 12mo. Pp. 207. Red cloth, titles stamped in gilt on the spine. Board edges rubbed, top edge dust-soiled, mildly cocked. In the illustrated dust jacket printed red and black, price clipped. Jacket with edge-wear, spine color just a tad faded. Despite those factors, dust jacket remains bright. Queneau's 1959 hit novel written in the slang of a foul-mouthed adolescent, considered untranslatable, in its first English version. Bentley's cartoons and illustrations appeared in many British publications. Here he brilliantly conveys Zazie's spunk in contrast with staid establishment figures. Jacket preserved in a removable clear archival sleeve.
