Nevertheless, a respectable copy of a noted rarity.. Limited edition #79 of 105 copies, signed by the author (who is most famous for the children's classic, The Velveteen Rabbit). Notable as a Rackham limited edition which he didn't sign. This work is frequently cited as the "rarest Rackham" limited edition and was never issued in England as a limited edition. Very good in publisher's black cloth over blue-green marbled paper-covered boards, mounted paper label; top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed; illustrated endpapers, offsetting to front ones, in fair scarce publisher's paper-covered slip case with matching limitation number which is worn with loss to top and tears to bottom.. Limited American edition, #74 of 100 hand-numbered copies, signed by both Rackham and Morley. Illustrated with color frontispiece, 3 color plates, and numerous in-text black and white illustrations. The scarce matching slipcase is present. 4to. xii, 227pp. Latimore & Haskell, pgs. 60-61.

New York: Radway & Co, 1868. Very good in original yellow wraps, with minor soiling, scattered foxing, offsetting throughout, many pages unopened.. An enjoyable pamphlet hawking presumably quack medical products Radway's Renovating Resolvent, Radway's Regulating Pills, and Radway's Ready Relief. With rather disturbing medical illustrations throughout. Scarce with five copies of all editions on OCLC as of April 2024, this copy does not match the pagination of any of the recorded copies.

First Edition, apparently preceding the English edition which was released 1897. Raymond was a prolific writer in his time, but has been forgotten in the last century. [6], 256pp. Scarce with less than a dozen copies located on Worldcat at the time of cataloging.

First edition of the collection of lectures by important individuals connected with the Society for the Protection of Ancient Monuments. William Morris was the Society's founder, primary mover, and who contributed to this work. Contents are R.S. Poole on "The Egyptian Tomb and the future state", Prof. William Blake Richmond on "Monumental Painting", Edward John Poynter on "Some remarks on Ancient Decorative Art", J.T. Mickelthwaite on "English Parish Churches". William Morris on "The History of Pattern Designing" and "The Lesser Arts of Life". 8vo. x, 232pp. Buxton Forman 64 ("an entirely pleasant volume").

Very good in publisher's blind stamped, gilt title at spine, clean and unmarked text, with minor rubbing to the boards, a bit of wear at the spine-bottom, and a bit of soiling to the endpapers.. First edition. An expose on the underworld of Victorian London. "It will certainly astonish the reader to find what innumerable sins are committed daily and nightly [in London]." The Observer, Sunday, May 30, 1869. However, as later scholarship notes, "annals of the slums . . . were social reportage that was meant to supply unpleasant facts to those unlikely to obtain them for themselves. . . [and were] often a thin camouflage for other things, like the accelerating alarm felt at the approach of dangers such as spiritual and moral destitution." First Edition of Rossetti's first regularly published book, one of around 600 copies (and given institutional holdings, not likely too many remaining in private hands). 8vo. xxxvi, 464pp., bound without half-title or errata. Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott & Co, 1865. First Edition. Very good in publisher's maroon cloth with minor rubbing. Prior owner's plates. 2 vol.. First Edition. The son of the far more famous Benjamin Rush, James Rush was the fourth treasurer of the United States. A trained physician, after his wife passed away in 1857, he left his public pursuit and focused more on psychological interests, leading to the 900+ page volume offered here. See Dictionary of Early American Philosophers, pg. 916-18.

London: Printed at the Ballantyne Press, Edinburgh, and published by George Allen, London, 1902. Very good with one tie lacking, partially unopened, covers a bit soiled, and vellum bowed as usual.. A pleasing two volume set of lectures Ruskin delivered in 1864, and previously published as part of his Sesames and Lilies work. Bound in full vellum, with text printed in red and black, with 6- and 10-line bordered initials printed in red mimicking the Kelmscott Press style. One of 350 copies on hand-made paper. 8vo. 2 vols. 68pp.; 99pp.

New York: John Wiley, 1860. Chipping, substantial dampstaining throughout, some loss to spine. A good copy.. Presentation copy. Secretarial signature reads "Chas. Follen Palfrey, with the compliments of the author." This particular copy is mentioned in Palfrey's biography in the Association of the Graduates of the United States Military Academy Annual Report 1921.

First edition with all first issue plates (and the only issue which contains Ruskin's own etched plates) in publisher's highly distinct embossed brown cloth (which Wise calls "deep claret colour"). A landmark text in the Gothic Revival. Imperial 8vo. viii, [1, errata slip], [4] 205pp., [1], [16pp., adverts + advert slip for the Stones of Venice dated 1849]. Wise 4. Scarce in the cloth and with the adverts, errata, and Stones of Venice slip all present.
