Modeled after the New York ILGWU's highly successful show "Pins and Needles," which enjoyed a long run on Broadway and toured the country, this musical production was a part of the unions efforts at cultural enrichment for their members. All of the performers were garment workers and the satirical show took aim at the issues and concerns of the workers and included 16 songs. It was written by the screenwriter Ben Barzman, who was later blacklisted and lived in exile overseas, with lyrics by his brother Sol and music by Bill Lind. The choreography was by Jacobina Caro, whose credits included the popular "Run Little Chillun.
