Betty Grable was the greatest pin up girl from WWII with her "the picture that launched a million dreams." The term "pinup" was coined to describe the photographs that would decorate the barracks and planes of countless soldiers during World War II (1939–45). The most famous pinup was Betty Grable . She was born on December 18, 1916, in St. Louis, Missouri. Her parents were Lillian Hofman and John Conn Grable. Betty's father was a stockbroker, and her mother focused her energy on show business aspirations for her daughters. Her attention focused on Betty. She was in shows and many classes, Betty made many vaudeville (theater combining comedy, song, and dance) performances. A Hollywood Talent Scout told Lillian to bring Betty to Hollywood which she soon did. When the Great Depression (1929–41) came her stockbroker father had to find ways to keep enough funds available for Betty to remain in Hollywood. The Talking Stick is passed from person to person as they speak . Only the person holding the stick is allowed to talk during that time period.

Jane Withers (born April 12, 1926) became one of the most popular child stars in Hollywood in the 1930s and early 1940s, with her films ranking in the top ten list for box-office gross in 1937 and 1938. During the Depression when life was more famine than feast, child stars like Jane became the blue plate special of the day.
In 1932, Jane went to Hollywood beginning with bit parts and eventually winning the plum role of the obnoxious brat who bedevils sweet little Shirley Temple in Bright Eyes (1934). This role won her a contract at Fox Studios and for the next seven years, she made 47 films as a child star. After her Fox contract ended in 1943, she went on to appear in many films, including Samuel Goldwyn's The North Star. To list all of her movies would take pages.
