Description:
Liberty League The Truth about the Philippines from Official Records and Other Authentic Sources with References, 432 pp plus fold out map. Expose about the abuses laid upon the natives by the Catholic friars with such topics as; Friars appropriate property, tyrannical landlords, immorality and brutality of the friars, oppression of the friars", etc. In contrast there is much praise for Freemasons and their opposition to the friars. This book was printed on cheap paper and given to a library which bound it into hard cover to preserve it. The front paper back cover and first eleven leaves are detached and chipped at the margins [not affecting text] and the map in rear is split at the folds. A rare item with WorldCat locating only 27 copies worldside.

Description:
Simon & Schuster, 1935 Vanderbilt's autobiography written at the age of 35. He covers his military history in WWI, his growing up in opulence, associations with the crowned heads of Europe and the ultra-rich Americans like The Carnegies, Mellons, Morgans Astors, etc., meeting Al Capone, Hitler, presidents of the United States from Roosevelt to Roosevelt and many others. This book is his statement of belief that the society of his youth was ending and his separation from it. There is a lengthy inscription in pencil; To Josephine Sibley /with all good wishes/ and I'm sorry we / Didn't have a dance! Neil Vanderbilt/ Feb 1935. Jacket is chipped at spine extremities and at the top back. I suspect this Josephine Sibley is Josephine Sibley Couper, wealthy socialite and artist. Neil was the nickname Cornelius employed among his close friends.
