[Waynesville, Missouri], [1944]. Stapled booklet measuring 8.5 x 5.5", [12] pp including printed covers. A scarce program for a World War II era anniversary ceremony held at an African American USO club at the segregated Fort Leonard Wood in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri. While the central two pages print a program of events to celebrate the second anniversary of Fort Road USO Club, the rest of the program functions as a sort of guide to African American USO clubs in Missouri and elsewhere. Thus, the program prints brief histories of five different African American USO clubs (noting the contributions of the author, "your humble servant" William B. Walker), including Fort Road and two others in the Fort Leonard Wood area, as well as a club in Kansas and a club in Michigan. Wear to covers with rubbing along edges and spine, bit of page toning, a very good, bright copy.

Routt Co, Colorado: A.G. Wallihan, Circa 1880s. Eight albumen photographs, each measuring 8 x 5", on studio mounts, all captioned in the negative, seven with additional printed information to verso ("Wallihan's Big Game, Photographs, Taken From Live Wild Game"). One photo with additional caption to verso that reads "These pictures brought home by Fred C. Bowditch & James N. Bowditch on one of their early prospecting trips about 1860." Eight photographs by Colorado wildlife photographers Allen and Mary Wallihan. Includes: Antelope No. 6, 600 Elk No. 5, Deer No. 15, Deer No. 7, Antelope No. 7, Elk No. 11, Antelope No. 1, and a photograph of an elk with caption faded. A couple images faded, foxing and soiling to mounts.

A collection of hunting, sporting and yachting tales. An attractive copy with mild soiling and wear to covers, darkeing to spine, toning to pages.

New York: Betty Wales Dressmakers, 1916. First Edition. 5.25 x 3.75", original gray boards with printed title labels to cover and spine, 139, [3] pp, illustrations from drawings. A scarce title in the "Betty Wales" series authored by Edith Kellogg Dunton, a graduate of Smith College who wrote under the pseudonym Margaret Warde. The Betty Wales books tell the story of a young woman studying at the fictional Harding College, covering her freshman year through to life after graduation. The books became so popular that a New York garment manufacturer released a line of Betty Wales dresses in 1915, offering books from the series free with the purchase of a dress. This, the last installment in the Betty Wales series, was one such book, published under a "Betty Wales Dressmakers" imprint. Detroit, Michigan: Freedmen's Progress Commission, 1915. Octavo, 9.25 x 6.25", blue cloth with gilt spine lettering, 371 pp, numerous illustrations from photographs. A well illustrated progress manual and record of African American life in the state of Michigan. The book was intended to accompany a Michigan exhibit at the 1915 “National Half-Century Anniversary of Negro Freedom and the Lincoln Jubilee” in Chicago, and was created by a panel of Michigan African American chosen by governor Woodbridge Ferris, including the compiler, an assistant in the state government. It contains biographies of successful Michigan African Americans, including inventors, actors, ministers, politicians, businesspeople, architects, etc, together with a history of African Americans in the state, sketches of African American organizations (including secret societies), a list of African American home and property owners, a list of Black Civil War veterans, and more. Newark, Ohio: Mrs. Elizabeth M. Weeter, 1907. Fourth edition. 8vo, brown wrappers lettered in black, black cloth spine, 110 pp. An unusual cookbook by the wife of a Lutheran minister in Newark, Ohio. According to the introduction, "This, the fourth edition, is revised, enlarged, and in part rewritten. In submitting it to the progressive housewife our aim is to provide her with a cook-book in the careful, intelligent use of which she will be able to set her table appetizingly, and, at the same time, economically." In 1928, the author's husband became principal at the Patton Masonic Industrial School in Pennsylvania, while the author joined the faculty as the Dietician and House Director. In good condition with crack through rear wrapper, creasing and wear to covers, toning and occasional soiling to pages.
