A well illustrated (including many full page illustrations) history of western civilization from the Greeks to the rise of the United States. Will require extra shipping.

Four issues of The Statesman Newspaper, not consecutive issues, folio newsprint, 8,8.8, and 6 pp. Folded in center, some creasing, some soiling and staining, a few edge tears; otherwise about very good. Issues are dated, December 10 1863 (this issue larger than others, but with less pages0, February 25, 1869, December 29, 1870 and June 13, 1872. Coverage is essentially local news.

Pamphlet, 8vo, original printed wrappers, large folding plate, 15 pp. Wrappers with a few chips and tears, and partially detached, but still connected, small notation on front wrapper, and short inscription on reverse of front wrapper, normal aging, folding plate shows a little foxing, but in very good shape overall. Very scarce title that presents a plan to build a floating dry dock to be used to repair ships. According to the discussion, the dry dock was to be based on a design by Joseph T. Martin, which he had a patent pending for in Washington. The purpose of this pamphlet was basically to give the reader a feel for the plan and some idea how it would work. The floating dry dock could repair and copper all kinds of ships, and would be made in sections constructed of strong timbers. The folding plate shows a ship on the dry dock, and comments suggest it could raise a vessel that was two thousand tons.

12mo, cloth, two folding maps, 71[1 ad]} pp.Backstrip defective, missing some pieces, remnants of paper label on top cover, joints weak, minor foxing, map of New york, has tears at some folds,;still a very decent copy.. This little book contains everything from the canal routes from Albany to a tour of Niagra Falls.Also, contains information on railroads and steamboats. More importantly, there is a long colored map of the Hudson River, and a larger map of the State of New York, dated 1836. Howes N-109. Ramsey 4525.

Program, 4to, illustrated, 68 pp. Some edgewear, and slight creasing, normal aging; overall bright and clean, very good. The 1973 season wasn't the best for the Yanks, ending in fourth place. Still lots of talent, and some great Yankee players, including Sparky Lyle, Thurman Munson, Ron Swonoda, Craig Nettles, Gene Michaels, and Bobby Mercer.

Original vellum sheet, 16 1/2" X 25 1/2", handwritten. Original signatures and seals on the bottom of document have been cut off, original horizontal and vertical folds, some edge folds, slight foxing and staing; otherwise very good. Remarkably legible document spells out the terms of an agreement between the parties. This is a deed for release of a parcel of land in "the seventh ward in the city of New York" for 100 pounds of "lawful money." There are some notations on the verso naming some of the parties.

This title provides considerable detail on the various school districts in the state of New York. It provides the number of students taught in each district and county, and also gives numbers on the cost of teaching in those districts.

Two partially printed documents, completed by hand, matted and framed, engraved portrait of Mayor James Duane. Overall 22 3/4 x12 1/2. Not archivally matted, second document worn along one edge with the loss of a few letters at the end line of text; normal aging, else very good. Documents issuing a license to "keep an Inn or Tavern, to retail strong Liquors." The first document (5 1/2 x7) issued and signed by Abraham P. Lott. Commissioner of Excise, dated February 1, 1784. The second document (5 x 6 1/2) is signed by Mayor James Duane (1733-1797), and is dated March 6, 1794. During the colonial period Duane became a prominent lawyer, and was a political moderate. While he opposed the Crown's taxation policies, he was opposed to violence. Duane would become a member of the Continental Congres, Indian commission, state senator, federal judge, and would be appointed mayor of New York City, which was a post he held for six years. Newspaper, 16" x 23", uncut, six columns of text, 8 pp. Folded at center, tears and chips in the margins, paper feels a little fragile and brittle in places, curved small slits in center column, just a little loss of text, foxing and darkening normal aging and darkening, especially in the last column; overall about fair. Plenty of coverage of national news of the day, including the arrival of the George Law a U.S. mail Steamship, financial news from California, and a revolution in Peru.

Program, 4to, illustrated, 48 pp. Slight browning, normal aging; overall bright and clean, near fine. The 1962 Yankee yearbook has to be one of the best baseball yearbooks ever. It covers the magical 1961 season. The Yanks win the series, and Roger Maris hits 61 home runs, passing Babe Ruth's record in 162 game season. Mickey Mantle also had a great season hitting 54 home runs, and batting .317. The Yanks had a great team including Whitey Ford, Yogi Berra, Tony Kubeck and Bobby Richardson in addition to Mantle and Maris.
