Britain:: Original Watercolor,, 1882-1890.. Fine. A refined and rare original watercolor painted on clay-coated stock. Fine condition. Image size: 13 x 23 cm. Sheet size: 24 x 29.6 cm. (Elegantly matted in Ivory rag board with gilt French line decoration. Sized to 14 x 18 inches). With dedication leaf 'Edith Cast Faber from her Mother (a loving memento) painted by Mrs. J.A. Faber about 1882-1890'. Classified as florilegia: ornamental flowers painted for beauty rather than scientific or medicinal appeal, this lovely Campanula was evidently painted from nature by an accomplished hand. Description:
New York:, undated [1900].. Fine. Fine condition. Original Charcoal on paper. Image size: 11 x 15 inches. Sheet size: 12 1/2 x 19 inches. The canal scene is an unusual departure from Charles Livingston Bull's animal and nature compositions, and quite unlike his other work found to date. Perhaps due to its geometric nature- it was an early study on perspective. Nevertheless, the confident use of tonality predicts his eventual command of charcoal as his desired medium for rendering any subject matter.
