Comte de Noé's (1777-1858) speech concerning the "Haiti Indemnity" at the Chamber of Peers on April 19, 1826. After the successful slave rebellion of Saint-Domingue which culminated in the elimination of slavery and the founding of the Republic of Haiti it took more than twenty years until the French ruler, King Charles X of France recognised the independence of the island in return of 150 million gold franc indemnity in April 1825. The sum was later reduced to 90 million in 1838. The issue of the indemnity appeared again in 2003 when the President of Haiti demanded France to pay back over 21 billion U.S. dollars, the equivalent in today's money of the 90 million gold francs, however in 2004 the prime minister rescinded the reparations demand. Not in Sabin. .

Official order to commemorate the decree of March 8, 1790 with festivities. The decree of the National Assembly on March 8, 1790 granted full legislative powers to the Colonial Assembly, gave Saint-Domingue and all French colonies almost complete autonomy. The decree reached Saint-Domingue only in May, and the Colonial Assembly began to issue radical decrees and reforms, pushing the colony further toward autonomy from France, thus the decree had a crucial role in the history of the Haiti Revolution. A previously unknown version of a "Gebrauchszettel", the only advertisement material used by Johann Marian Farina, the creator of Eau de Cologne or Kölnisch Wasser. The four-page pamphlet informs about the possible uses of the essence as a beauty product and adverts its health benefits and invigorating effects. Such labels were only sent with larger delivery or by the request of the costumer (Leschke, 2006), however, later it was used also as a trademark. Farina provided the buyers the right to return the perfume, thus the address of the supplier was always indicated on the pamphlets. (Leschke, 2006.)
