Another Prospect of Caernarvon taken on the East side' drawn and engraved by John Boydell Published originally by John Boydell at the Globe near Durham Yard in the Strand, this impression circa 1820.John Boydell (1719-1804) was a draughtsman, line engraver, publisher and print seller. This engraving is from a series of views of Britain aiming at demonstrating the natural beauty and history of the country to English and foreign tourists. It is an early example of his engraved work.He was to become a very important publisher in the history of English prints in the 18th century changing the print trade from an import one to an export one by the 1770s. In 1790 he became Lord Mayor of London, and in the early 1800s set up the Shakespeare Gallery in Pall Mall, selling fine engravings of paintings by the finest English painters of the day from scenes of Shakespeare.Small repaired tear in top margin.

1809. Soft ground etching. 270mm by 200mm (platemark). Caleb Whitefoord FRS FRSE RSA (1734-1810) was a Scottish merchant, diplomat, and political satirist. In 1782 he served as Lord Shelburne's envoy to Benjamin Franklin on the Peace Commission at Paris. Dance was an architect, draughtsman and founder member of the Royal Academy. This portrait comes from a series of chalk portraits that he did of his friends, 72 of which were engraved and published (1808-1814) by Daniell who was an engraver as well as a reknown landscape painter.Accompanied by original descriptive text.

Etching, circa 1930. 210mm by 300mm (platemark) 290mm by 460mm (sheet). Signed in pencil below the image, editioned 65/100. Edmund Blampied is one of the most significant artists to have hailed from the Channel Islands. Greatly versatile, he worked as a painter, illustrator, and occasional sculptor, though is best remembered as a printmaker and, especially, an etcher. Having been born on a farm, he produced some particularly evocative etchings of agricultural and peasant subjects. CONDITION : Faint mark from previous mount. A few faint foxing spots. Some faint foxing spots on the reverse of the sheet. Remains of paper hinges on the top corners.
