Yearbook of the Univ. of Texas, so-called "Texas Literature Number". A number of sections of the yearbook were introduced with brief segments from famous Texas historians of the Old West & the Texas Republic, etc.. Dobie wrote a column of information on each historian. Condition: good. A number of the glossy pages in the rear part of this heavy volume were stuck together at the top corner near the binding. Impossible to separate cleanly, some pages have some abrasion or thinness in that restricted area. Last leaf has a torn chip at that corner 1 1/2" x 1 1/2". There is no loss of text. Priced accordingly. A surprisingly rare Dobie item. Not in McVicker.

We judge this to be from the 1950s, but are not for sure. Map of France on back. Browning to edges. This restaurant existed, according to our research, 1957-71. Good.

Presentation copy from Davis "To Maria Antonia Field In appreciation of 'Chimes of Mission Bells" & signed by Davis. Fields wrote a book on the California missions which was published in the same year a Davis'. A couple of leaves that have been opened are chipped. There is also some foxing. Still a vg copy. This title, oft reprinted in digital based editions, is extremely scarce. It is the fine print version of an address the author made in Monterey at the Palace Hotel in 1913 for Admission Day.

Quarto/nearly folio size cloth & boards. 186pp. A great display of the fine color landscapes by two fine photographers, the accomplished Ray Atkeson of Oregon & the famous David Muench noted for his photos of the desert and mountain Southwest. This is a truly rare copy signed (not signed to anyone) by both Atkeson and Muench, on the title page. I challenged you to find another copy thus. Fine in dj which has some vertical shelf rubbing on it, but has no tears or chips. If you collect modern (1950+) western landscape photography, this should be on anyone's high spot list.

Inscribed (12 line presentation) by the editor and McKinstry descendant to the fine Chicago book binder Ed Lhotka, the author of ABC of Leather Bookbinding, on January 2, 1975. Lhotka died in 2007 at the age of 97. He was a book binder at the great R. R. Donnelley Company in Chicago for nearly 50 years and "... did work for museums and libraries around the country..." (Chicago Tribune obit). This copy is fine and elegant, and is bound in red leather with a gold stripe running diagonally across both front and back covers. It represents the trail and features a wagon wheel on both covers. The presentation page appears to be bound in. In the back, also bound in most creatively is the dust jacket of the trade edition.
