Description:
Strasburg: Chez Amand Konig. Very Good. 1770. First Edition. Hardcover. Quarter leather and paterned boards. Spine with five raised bands. Gilt title to one compartment. Title and text with facing pages of Latin and French. Separately paginated. Illustrated with four engraved folding plates that appear within the text. Plate 2 appears before plate 1 but all four all present. Oddly the front and rear boards have some writing that appears to be French that nearly covers the boards. It seems to be bound from a larger sheet that contained the writing as it even appears to the turn-ins, front and rear. It is in a similar color as the boards so does not detract too much. There is a large piece of this paper covering the rear board that is missing near the spine. Foxing to the endpapers; other foxing, largely very light, does appear within the text. Wear along the spine and board edges. Corners bumped. Interior is very tight. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 252 pages .
