A 2 Volume set identically bound in Half green Leather and marbled boards, and with marbled page edges. Four raised bands to the spine and with 2 gilt lettered title and number labels to each. GIlt decorated compartments to each spine. The number label to Volume Two is chipped with loss to the edges of the label, and the covers and marbled boards to both vols are a little rubbed to the extremities, but it looks a handsome set. See Images. 301 pages plus the title page to Volume One, and & 312 pages plus the title page to Volume Two. A gift note in faded ink dated 1871 to each volume on the second blank prelim page / endpapers. An original hand-coloured antique engraving, no date shown but printed circa 1823, and set in an elaborate carouche in which Perrot displays the produce and crafts, etc, of the area. Hand-colouring is contemporary and later. In a plain brown mount and ready to frame. Cartographer is A. M. Perrot, and engraved by Blanchard. A most attractive and decorative engraving of a map of the Haute Marne Area - featuring the City of Chaumont, including Wassy, Langres, etc, France. Some pale spotting to the blank margins , and overall an Excellent deep and very clean image. See Image. ; 24mo 5" - 6" tall .

Very good, blind-stamped, decorated paper-covered boards with clear black titling and decoration to the spine. An impressed Frys Breakfast Cocoa logo on the rear cover. In the original most attractive illustrated period dust jacket, with a delightful illustration by H. C. Marsh Lambert for Frys Cocoa on the rear cover of the d/j. The d/j spine has a 2/- sticker near the foot of the spine and there is a little VERY light edgewear. A small brown spot is obscuring the 'an' of the word 'romantic' on the front of the d/j - but o/w VG, showing a charming period image of a lady and child on the front of the d/j. The d/j nis ow in a new protective clear - removable - bookfilm plastic cover and looks Near Fine. In a stunning red/gilt pictorial binding featuring Indians on the front cover and The Giant Buddha (in Japan) on the spine. The front cover is superbly bright, the spine is bright but with some odd fading to the curliques just above the Buddhas head. They are almost invisible. One black spot to the very foot of the spine, and both head and tail of the spine are 'pushed' from storage, but Overall an extremely attractive binding. FIRST Edition. The page fore-edges lightly toned with age but clean.
