Quotation from author's foreword "Probably no man who served with the Marine COrps in the Pacific will read this book without feeling that his outfit has been slighted. And he will be right. It is quite impossible in a book of this scope to do full justice to all hands, even if all the material necessary to this end lay within the grasp of a single writer.".
