John Henry Nash (1871-1947), American printer and bibliophile, born Woodbridge, Canada. After learning the printer's trade, he emigrated to the United States in 1894. He eventually became professor of typography at the University of Oregon. A vital and vigorous personality in American printing he made beautiful books in Calfornia under patronage which has permitted him to work without too much consideration fo limits of time, materials and expense. It is bound in contemporary full English calfskin, ruled and tooled in blind. The edges of the boards are tooled in gilt, and the binding is in good condition with endbands partially intact but front board is loose. A very nice and rare book, worth reattaching the board!
