REMARKABLY WELL PRESERVED COPY first edition folio xviii, 278, [1 (colophon)], [1 (blank)]pp., 12 photographic plates (most double sided) with 23 images, original dark blue cloth, front cover and spine gilt blocked, fore and lower edges untrimmed, a few trivial fox spots on the deckled fore edge of a few leaves, else as new in the grey paper dust jacket (also as new) overprinted in red and black. A remarkable survival in this condition. Fell (1625 - 1686), English churchman and influential academic, served as Dean of Christ Church, Oxford, and later concomitantly as Bishop of Oxford. He was key figure in the reorganization of Oxford University after the Restoration. "He has a permanent place in history as the founder of the first corporately -owned university press.
