Nameley: Adolf Beck (wrongfully convicted of Fraud in the 1890s), Joseph Lesurques (executed for his part in a mail coach robbery in the 1790s, although it was later found he was nowhere near the scene), Emile de La Ronciere (convicted of Rape in 1835, although the ''victim'' was later known to have lied), and Pierre Vaux (convicted of Arson and sent to the penal colony in French Guiana in 1852). 281pp.. No publication date given, the book was originally published in the US in 1924, but this looks to be a later (1930s) UK edition. A western (or possibly a north-western) story by the author, who was well-known in his day for his Canadian Mountie adventures featuring "Renfrew of the Royal Mounted".
