Description:
Madison: M, 1982. Seven of the first nine issues of this pro-feminist, gay-affirming magazine for men published in Madison, Wisconsin from 1979-1994 (the magazine changed titles to Changing Men in 1985). The magazine was part of the burgeoning Men's Movement, which sought to eliminate sexism and traditional gender roles while supporting gay and women's liberation. As stated in the premiere issue: "We believe that all our efforts to create a gender-just society free of sexism and sex-role stereotyping will be encouraged by exchanging information and nourishing a larger men's community." Each issue featured articles, poetry, reviews, an evolving resource directory, and letters. Included in this run are the premiere issue (Winter 1979/80), issue #2 (Spring 1980), Issue #4 (Fall-Winter 1980), Issue #5 (Spring 1981), Issue #7 (Winter 1981-82), Issue #8 (Spring 1982), and Issue #9 (Summer-Fall 1982). Stapled, magazine format, various pagination, illus. A near fine run.

Description:
[New York]: [Communist Party USA], 1956. An important internal document issued by the Harlem Regional Committee in response to the controversial Draft Resolution for the 16th National Convention of the Communist Party, U.S.A.. This report from the Harlem Committee states that "the Draft Resolution must state unequivocally that only a party based upon Marxism-Leninism can lead the working class to Socialism in our country, and our Party must be built to do so" (p. 4). The Committee denounces the reformist and gradualist approach of a "peaceful and constitutional struggle" and points to the Negro struggle against segregation and white terrorism by the Klan and White Citizens Councils as evidence that "revolutionary struggle" is already underway. The document continues with further objections to the Draft Resolution and recommends the "practice of Democratic Centralism," the implementation of a "constructive cadre policy," and the development of a class approach. It concludes with a critical…

Description:
Belmont, Massachusetts: American Opinion, 1969. A reprint by the John Birch Society of James Forman's controversial Black Manifesto first presented at the National Black Economic Development Conference held in Detroit in April, 1969. A month later Forman barged into Riverside Church in NYC, took over the microphone and read the manifesto, which demanded $500 million (later raised to $3 billion) from Christian churches and Jewish synagogues in reparations for slavery and the continued oppression of the Black community. This horrified organizations such as the John Birch Society, which eagerly reprinted the manifesto verbatim to demonstrate how militant the civil rights movement had become. Stapled wrappers (9" x 6"), 7 p. Wilcox Collection stamp to the front wrapper, Liberty Library, Clayton, Mo. to the rear wrapper, else Near Fine.

Let us avenge his broken life. We must carry his name through fascist Spain and it shall mean death to our enemies!" Hours after Durruti's death, CNT-FAI militants killed 52 policemen held captive in a monastery. The verso features two essays memorializing Durruti's life and leadership: "Durruti-Anarchist" written by his comrade H. Rudiger and issued on Nov. 20, 1936; and "The Durruti Column," a radio broadcast by Carl Einstein, "militiaman of the Durruti Column." Although there is no publication information on the poster, we…
