Illustrated with a map of the route, and also with a frontispiece engraving of a steam train. Fine in a gilt-stamped maroon leatherette binding by Bela Blau. (Bradbury, p. 24). Through this dramatic and expressive non-verbal style, Ward communicated situations and emotions using nothing more than the woodcut's stark contrast of black and white. Bit of light rubbing along bottom edge, else a fine, bright copy in decorated boards backed with black cloth, and with increasingly uncommon dust jacket, which, but for a touch of toning, is equally fine.

Illustrated with linocuts in blue by Bonnie Baris amidst Franklin's step-by-step treatise on producing large paper with simple techniques. Printed at the Kelly Winterton Press. A collection of transcripts of speeches given in memory of Bernard Malamud, the novelist and short story writer best known for his baseball novel The Natural. First copy bound in dark gray cloth with light gray paper label. Second copy bound in light gray paper wrappers. Both fine.

Hijuelos' portrait of a Cuban family as its members navigate midcentury New York remains a bold entrance into the Latin-American literary scene and an impressive narrative of personal fictions and political facts in an age of Desi Arnaz and the Cold War. It served as the basis for the 1992 film, The Mambo Kings, featuring Antonio Banderas and Armand Assante. Bound in green wrappers, showing light sunning to spine, else fine.

This copy with a second inscription, appearing at the final page of the English foreword: "Sorry, the label is not gold stamped! / Karli." Illustrated with twelve examples of Frigge's marbled papers which are evocative of landscapes. Bound in vellum-backed marbled boards, with a glassine dust wrapper. Fine, with a few tears to extremities of wrapper.

(Buren, Netherlands): Frits Knuf, 1989. Frigge, Karli. Tall quarto. (15)pp., (6)ff. One of 55 copies, signed by Frigge. With a foreword by the artist in both Dutch and English. These six marbled papers were made by Frigge in 1979 with paints contaminated with dead mayflies. The structure of the paint was so changed that when it was put on the marbling paper the effect was of lichen and mosses. Although the process sounds unpalatable, the results are delectable. Fine in vellum-backed marbled boards, with original glassine.

Containing two black & white photographs of Karli Frigge at work and thirty-four total tipped-in samples of intricate marbled papers in a rainbow of hues. After apprenticing with a Dutch binder, Karli Frigge has devoted years to the craft of hand-marbling. She tells her story and gives details about the craft of marbling in the preface. Bound by the author in Dutch-style harness leather, lettered in blind and laced with leather straps. A very fine copy in the publisher's board slipcase.
