New York: Albert L. Kerth, 1974. First edition. Hardcover. vg to fine. Quarto. (6)83pp. Original red buckram with gilt-stamped illustration and lettering on cover, gilt lettering on spine. Ochre endpapers. Illustrated title page. "Since I am familiar with the design of service stations, as well as other buildings, I felt that this knowledge might be used in the preparation of a publication illustrating a series of "practical conversions" to other uses. At the time of publications it was estimated that approximately 50,000 service stations will be abandoned or sold. Kerth believes that remodeling, respectively converting these buildings can be done at about half the cost of a new structure. He compiled a list of 97 different business uses and services for abandoned stations and provides detailed… Read More

Paris: Réunion des Musées Nationaux, 1993. First edition. Hardcover. vg. Folio. 512pp. Original photo-illustrated dust-jacket over green cloth with cream lettering on spine and front cover. This splendid catalogue was published on the occasion of the monumental exhibition of the same name which was held at Zurich and Paris in 1993. The word "nabi" means "prophet" in Hebrew. A group of young artists, a dozen in total - Bonnard, Maurice Denis, Vuillard, Ker-Xavier Roussel, Paul-Elie Ranson... - chose to refer to themselves using this term in order to state their common willingness to renew painting. The exhibition told the story of these short years of intense creativity for artists who, strongly influenced by Gauguin's synthetist and symbolist ideas, were also… Read More
