Description:
London: Doubleday, 2005. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. Signed. First UK Edition. A very fine copy in like D/W. The basis for the hit 2008 movie Slumdog Millionaire. The Author is an Indian diplomat now posted to South Africa and this was his first book. First published in 2005 the book failed to make much of a splash in literary circles or in High Street book shops but has risen to prominence thanks to the spectacularly successful film which was awarded four Golden Globe nominations and received all four, including Best Picture. It was even more successful at the Oscars scooping eight awards and sweeping the boards. The feelgood film set in the slums of Mumbai took the coverted Best Film and Best Director (Danny Boyle) awards and also won Best Song, Musical Score, Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Film Editing and Sound Mixing. Signed by the Author
