Description:
(Western Song)arranged by the Oahu StaffPublisher: Oahu Publishing (1943)#: 15PGwith lyrics & octave notation8 1/2 x 11 inches, 5 pages"The Yellow Rose of Texas" is a traditional American folk song. Members of the Western Writers of America chose it as one of the Top 100 Western songs of all time. Several versions of the song have been recorded, including by Elvis Presley and Mitch Miller. The earliest known version is found in Christy's Plantation Melodies. No. 2, a songbook published under the authority of Edwin Pearce Christy in Philadelphia in 1853. Christy was the founder of the blackface minstrel show known as the Christy's Minstrels. Like most minstrel songs, the lyrics are written in a cross between the dialect historically spoken by African-Americans and standard American English. The song is written in the first person from the perspective of an African-American singer who refers to himself as a "darkey," longing to return to "a yellow girl," a term used to describe a light-skinned bi-racial…

You Can Make Cornell BreadOlive M. Mc Cay & Jeanette B. McCay
Copyright 1973, first published 1955, revised 1961
Paperback
5.5 x 8.5 inches, 32 pages
1955 – The first booklet by the McCays is published: You Can Make Cornell Bread, giving source of ingredients and names of bakers considering baking the bread.
1973 – An enlarged, revised version of the booklet You Can Make Cornell Bread is published. First printing 8,000 copies; second printing 10,000 copies. Price $1.00. Excellent support and publicity given by newspapers and magazines. Booklet out of print.
It was written and marketed by Clive McKay, the originator of the bread. It's an entertaining pamphlet and has a discussion (with pictures) of how his test rats suffered when fed only white bread. You don't often see pictures of rats in a bread book.
The soy flour in the bread gives it a nutty taste in my opinion. And, soy flour definitely does go rancid - learned that the hard way.

A Young Child's Guide to the Urantia Book by Mary EbbenPublisher: Mary Ebben (1993)Paperback8 x 10.6 inches, 89 pagesEighty-eight short chapters, many with illustrations, explain the life and work of Jesus and His apostles. -------------------------The Urantia Book (sometimes called The Urantia Papers or The Fifth Epochal Revelation) is a spiritual, philosophical, and religious book that originated in Chicago sometime between 1924 and 1955. The authorship remains a matter of speculation. It has received various degrees of interest ranging from praise to criticism for its religious and science content, its unusual length, and its lack of a known author. The text introduces the word "Urantia" as the name of the planet Earth and states that its intent is to "present enlarged concepts and advanced truth." The book aims to unite religion, science, and philosophy, and its enormous amount of material about science is unique among literature claimed to be presented by celestial beings. Among other topics, the…

When we purposefully change our handwriting, we introduce attitudes that can improve our relationships, give us the impetus to achieve and take risks, and simply bring out the best in us. This is because our handwriting is a reflection of our innermost thoughts and feelings. When we fall in love, survive a serious illness, or change careers, our view of life is dramatically altered and, as a result, our handwriting patterns change. Conversely, desired transformations can result from intentionally changing the way specific letters are written: * Stick to that diet by changing the letter T.
* Avoid being overlooked for that well-deserved promotion by changing the letter G.
* Reduce stress and cease juggling too many things at once by changing the letter S.
* Overcome shyness or stage fright by changing the letter A.… Read More
