About This Item

Hutchinson, KS: LWB Publishing (1st Edition, 1998). Like new hardcover with maroon boards, gilt and silver titles/illustration, 185 pages. No dust jacket (as issued).

ABOUT THE BOOK: "Fitting together the pieces of this book was like putting together a gigantic puzzle, collecting items of information from many sources and shaping the work until the total picture came into focus. I could not have accomplished this without the help of many people, especially Dorothy Ballhagen, my cousin Wayne Ballhagen's widow, who lives in New Hartford, Iowa. Her research into the Bollhagen and Ballhagen family history gave me material for fashioning the tale. I also had help from brothers and sisters, namely June Docherty at Buffalo, Minnesota, who not only contributed historical data but also loaned me priceless photos of the Metz family. Lamoine Herrman, an older sister, at Big Stone City, South Dakota, gave me information, but also tipped me off to Helen Butler, who supplied vital data on the Metz family." Lloyd Ballhagen
