In lower half of title page: "by Charles Ingersoll." No publication information. Charles Ingersoll (1805-1882) was the son of Charles Jared Ingersoll (1782-1862), both lawyers in Philadelphia. Charles Ingersoll was the author of several other publications on legal matters. Although opposed by the author of this publication, whether Charles Ingersoll or another, the joint resolution led to an amendment of the Pennsylvania constitution in 1850 introducing the elective judiciary to the state. In the upper right-hand corner of the title page is the partially cropped signature of Craig Biddle (1823-1910), who was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1850 and later a judge. An account of the trial of French cavalry officer Emile François Guillaume, comte Clément de La Roncière (1803-1874). The victim of a legal scandal, he later became the 8th French governor of Tahiti. Very scarce. In Good+ Condition: light foxing throughout; several page opened carelessly; otherwise, clean and solid.

Full limp vellum. Lacking ties. First part ends at page 472; Second part begins at [553] with no apparent loss of text. Part two suffered the expurgations from the inquisitor with page 961 - 964; 995 - 998 pasted over and page crossed out. Worming to 955 - 976 with loss of text. 36.3 cm x 22.5 cm. "Corrected and submitted according to the edict" by an inquisitor whose name may possibly begin 'Don Athanasio'.; folio 9.5 x 14.3 inches; All shipments through USPS insured Priority Mail.

[Johnstown, PA?, 1890?]. 12-1/4" x 6" broadside, verse text in two columns below headline. Light browning, three horizontal fold lines, negligible light edgewear, a (tiny) bit of tape residue near top and bottom edges. $300. * Gork, born and raised in Johnstown, PA, failed to follow his mother's advice and turned to a life of crime. He blames his failure on alcoholism and calls for prohibition, which will "establish peace throughout our land" by driving "King Bacchus out." Our conjectured date for this piece is based on a reference in the first stanza to the Johnstown flood, which took place in 1889.
