U.S.A.: SCRIBNERS, 1893. First American Edition 1st Printing. Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. First American Edition--First Printing. From the recently auctioned collection of M. B. Goldstone & Homer Goldstone (Steinbeck's bibliographers) with the superb gold bookplate lightly attached to the front pastedown. This copy is in dark tan cloth with dark brown and silver decorations and lettering to the front board. Spine is decorated in same with gold gilt lettering. A handsome copy with slightly toned cloth spine with tiny specks of splashes at the heel. Original owners name in ink and dated 1894 on front free endpaper. Otherwise a tight and sturdy copy with a strong hinge and binding. A very collectible copy. 406 pp with 4 pp of advertising at the verso.
