Original publisher's two-tone boards, lettered in gilt at the spine and in the black at the upper board. Top edge dust soiled and with a touch of light marking to the cloth in two or three places. Spine ends and corner tips a little rubbed, and with some browning to the endpapers and a touch of occasional marking to the leaf margins. A nice crisp bright copy. Clark, both a Newberry Honor finalist and later a medalist, was perhaps most notable for her Bureau of Indian Affairs' series of children's books, among them the Little Herder titles, which advanced the cause of the Tesuque Pueblo and in turn helped their children learn to read.
