London: The Cresset Press, 1931. Two volumes. Folio. One of 195 copies on Batchelor's handmade paper. (This copy #105). Set in type from a copy of the Revised 1674 edition (Paradise Lost) and the first edition of 1671 (Paradise Regained). Twenty wood-engravings (16 full-page, plus head- and tail-pieces in each volume) were designed and engraved on wood by Demitrios Galanis. Title page and Initial letters designed by Anna Simmons. The copies were printed Bernard Newdigate at Shakespeare Head Press, in Oxford. Volume I, (i)-xii, (1)-442, colophon; Volume II, (i-vi), (1)-88, colophon. 370 x 260 mm (14¾ x 10½ inches). Sold with this item, is a prospectus for this work, dated 1930, by Cresset Press, New York. This is printed in red and black 720 mm x 500 mm. Folded. Contains two engravings (one full page) and a leaf of the text. To the rear, is an apology to the Golden Cockerel Press for publishing a Milton at the same time that they are. Frankfurt: A.M. Mallet, 1719. The mounts have very slight bumping, but are in good, clean condition. The plates are good impressions, and cleanly mounted. Plate 71 has a slight crease to the right edge, with a "crack" of loss of ink. This would seem to have occurred at the time of printing. Overall in very nice condition. . A pair of copper engravings of the heavens. The first shows Three globes are floating in the sky, an active seaside scene across the bottom including boats, an old coastal village scene, etc. The globes show the Anteciens, the Perieciens and the Antipodes. These are two small to have been of use to a navigator, and were purely decorative. This is numbered plate 49 to the corner. The second, labeled plate 71 shows a pastoral scene, above which there is a disc showing the sun and the astrological symbols. These were issued by A.M. Engraved frontis portrait of William Beattie MD, and engraved title page with view of Val Pelice. Lovely folded map of Piedmont. All plates are protected by their original tissue guards. Very good condition boards, slight rubbing only. New end papers. Moderate foxing to frontis. Light foxing to engraved title. The rest of the book is in a very good with only light foxing in some places. iii, 216 pp. 280 x 220 mm (11 x 8¾ inches). Germany: J. F. Fabrikmarke, 1912. A German collection of 20 magic lantern slides, in two boxes. Made circa 1912 (one box dated). The second box appears somewhat older. these show a variety of scenes, children's tales, characters and illustrations. Ten of the slides have 4 images to each slide. Ten have 5 images to each slide. Condition is generally very good, with some minor scratches and blemishes only.

Bathurst, Australia: Kerry & Co, 1900. Sydney, Kerry & Co, C1900, Original Photograph. A lovely photograph of an Aboriginal man named Gingung. Kerry & co / Tyrrell's Sydney: No. 1829 Gingung, a warrior. Silver gelatin print, with albumen paper process. Signed in the negative. Studio Stamped. Title written in the negative. Stamp (slightly visible, see image) on verso. This is a print by Tyrrell from negatives from Kerry & Co. There is a copy referenced at the Maas Museum of New South Wales. The photograph is stamped on back 'TYRRELL'S MUSEUM / OF / ANTIQUES BOOKS & CURIOS / 143 CASTLEREAGH STREET / SYDNEY' 1829 and identified by Smalls auctions in Australia as an early reprint from the original 'Kerry' glass negative. The sepia reprints are likely the working stock of the Kerry Studio that Tyrell acquired along with the original glass negatives. Bruxelles, 1936. Scarce dry-point etching of Saint George slaying the dragon. Copy # 1 of 75. Sadly there are two tears which have been repaired with clear tape to the margins. Only one slightly creeps on to actual image. Otherwise in a very good, clean condition. Blank to verso. Image size: 290 x 235 mm. Total sheet size: 560 x 370 mm (22 x 14½ inches). Elisabeth Ivanovsky, was a Moldova born Belgian painter and illustrator. Best known for her children's book illustrations, her work drew inspiration from Russian traditions, and avant-garde art.

London: John Walthoe, 1723. First edition thus. Full leather binding with six raised bands to the spine (no titles). Two thin gilt lines to the edge of the boards. The front board is detached. It has been lightly reattached with archival tape, but needs a permanent repair. Title page has an owner's name to the top edge. Internally clean and tidy with a little marking / foxing only. a scarce book with text in both Latin and English on facing pages, decorated head and tailpieces. The dedication of this edition is to Robert Walpole. He was de facto the first British Prime Minister from 1721. At the beginning of his time in office were Jacobite risings, and anti Catholic sentiment was strong. vi [6] i-v, 6-127. Norimbergæ [Nürnberg]: Jo. Baptist Homann, 1716. Copper engraving by Johann Baptist Homann, with contemporary hand colouring. The cartouche has a scene of Gods watching the fighting on a battlefield. The map covers the Dauphiné in southeastern France. In the west is the Rhône, and in the east Piemont in Italy. 505 x 580 mm (20 x 22¾ inches). One central fold. The colours are strong and edges are a little delicate. Blank verso. Gravure sur cuivre de Johann Baptist Homann, avec coloration à la main contemporaine. Le cartouche a une scène de dieux regardant les combats sur un champ de bataille. La carte couvre le Dauphiné dans le sud-est de la France. A l'ouest se trouve le Rhône, et à l'est le Piémont en Italie. 505 x 580 mm (20 x 22¾ pouces). Un pli central. Les couleurs sont fortes et les bords sont un peu délicats. Verso vierge.

1900. An attractive two layer glass painting of The Madonna and Child, after Bodenhausen's infamous 'Eine Vision'. Cuno von Bodenhausen (1852-1931). The shaped glass (slightly convex) has been painted in two layers to the rear. Signed in plate to lower right. The two layers of painted glass together give a depth to the image. A few lights scratches to the paint surface, but still attractive. It seems that this was once in a frame, as the edges are unfinished. 270 x 180 mm (10¾ x 7 inches).

London: Smith, Elder & Co, 1869. First Edition. In an attractive Zaehnsdorf binding. Three quarters blue calf and marbled boards. Raised bands and gilt to spine. Bookplate of Lord Battersea (Cyril Flower) to front pastedown. This book of social and political criticism was, at its time, seen as quite controversial. Binding is a little rubbed. Foxing to front/rear pages, but body of book mostly clean and not foxed. lx + 272pp. 21 x 15 cm. Cyril Flower, first Baron Battersea (30 August 1843 – 27 November 1907) was a British Liberal politician and patron of art. His bookplate shows his favourite motto: Flores curat Deus (God cares for the flowers).

Bruxelles: Librairie historique-artistique, 1843. First edition. 4 large in-8 volumes, (270 mm x 170 mm). Midnight blue half-sheepskin binding, embossed percaline covers, spines have gilt titles and decoration. Illustrated with hand coloured / hand finished engraved plates. These were created by the leading illustrators of the time, including Duverger, L. Markaert, R. King. The bindings are in very good condition, with a little rubbing to the edges only. Inside, the text and plates have light foxing throughout, but are overall in very good condition. Each copy online offers a different number of plates for each of the four volumes - but our copy seems to match the maximum collation for each variation (so seems complete.) The index is of limited use, as it only lists a proportion of the plates. Genevae:: Jacobi Stoer, 1627. Early reprint. The first edition of this Greek / Latin bible was in 1571. Original soft vellum covers, with some marking and staining to the covers. Handwritten title to the spine. There is no end paper, and the work begins with the title page. The pages are clean and tidy overall, with a little darkening and foxing and a few faded ink annotations. To the final page is an old - possibly contemporary - owner's name. Collation: g-gviii, a-rrrr3. Pagination: [16], 1-1366 pp. A nice copy. 175 x 105 mm (7 x 4¼ inches).
