In two volumes , 488pp, 470pp. portrait frontispieces, engraved vignette title page, regular title page, with portraits from original full length paintings by Alonzo Chapell of presidents, jurist authors, naval and military heroes, etc. with biographical and historical narratives by the author. A very handsome set bound in publisher's full dark brown morocco, central title and flourishes gilt within blind stamped decorative border, raised bands, compartments lettered in gilt and decorated in blind, all edges gilt. Only minor post of rubbing to binding, faint circular dampstains to title page of volume one. Very nice set.

INSCRIBED by the author (founder of the John Birch Society) in early 1955 on the front free endpaper. Endpaper also has the ownership stamp of Myers G. Lowman, executive secretary of the anti-Communist Methodist group Circuit Riders, Incorporated. No other markings. A clean copy with typical toning of the acidic text stock used; jacket has publisher's clipping of corner and price stamp and a bit of toning and wear (including a small closed tear, but nice overall).

Second edition, full leather, Troy, New York, 1797. Includes the occasionally missing frontis. Condition is Good or better: original full leather boards in above average condition with modest general wear. Only the bottom front corners show slightly more than minimal wear. The other corners, edges, spine and hinges are sound. Binding is sound. Leather label on spine still legible although that is not well seen on images. Interior is likewise in good condition. Only writing is old faded ink signature on back free blank. No other writing; mild to moderate foxing throughout. The laid cotton paper pages are still supple and easily read. The title page has a 3 inch closed tear expertly repaired (see image). There are some minor edge tears seen throughout but none affecting text. Paginates: blanks(2), frontis, (i)-180, blank(1). You get one 1899 Black Troopers Daring Heroism Soldiers Spanish American War Miles V. Lynk book published by The M.V. Lynk Publishing House in Jackson, TN. It does not come with a dust jacket. This item is in English and is in good condition for an antique book. There is some wear to the covers and edges. The binding is tight along the upper half of the spine, while the bottom half is no longer glued to the pages. There are no loose pages. The pages have tanned over the years and there is some foxing. The red dye from the covers stained the first few pages. Apart from a few previous owners writing their names on the inside of the front cover, the pages are free of writing, This item is 8 inches tall by 6 inches wide.
