All edges gilt. Condition of the book is VERY GOOD; Spine faded, cloth worn at top & bottom of spine and corners, inscription on ffep, text & illustrations very clean.

New York: Longmans, Green , And Co., 1899. First American edition. Hardcover. Very Good. xv+ 147 pages 7 1/2 x 10 in. Twenty-six plates and sixty-six diagrams. Red cloth binding with beveled boards, gilt lettering on spine and cover. Condition of the book is VERY GOOD: Very light wear to covers and spine, minimal sun darkening to spine. Edges of text block lightly foxed, several pages in on front and rear are foxed, foxing appears at the edges of some pages, binding is tight.

Blue cloth, with gilt lettering and designs on spines, gilt design on covers. Tissue-protected frontispieces in Vol 1 and 2. Numerous b&w illustrations. Condition is VERY GOOD+, with some very slight bending to ends of spines, corners very slightly worn, some faint staining on both covers. Owner�s large bookplate in 1 and 2 (messy glue to one). Very tight, clean copies. ETS.

Condition of the book is VERY GOOD: Heavy foxing on covers , foxing stain on back cover & last page, cover eaten at edges and spine edge, top edge lightly bumped. Pages very white, illustrations very clean.

Black half calf binding on spine and corners, pebbled brown cloth boards, gilt lettering on spine, five raised bands, faded marbled edge of text block, marbled end papers. Condition of the book is VERY GOOD: Wear to spine esp. cover edge, wear and some light soiling to covers esp. bottom corners, a couple of scratches. Edge of text block faded, lightly darkened on top. Marbled end papers very brilliant, title page shows soling and some repair as do first three pages, pages of text clean, binding tight.

Three illustrations in each, illustration on frontis with tissue. Each volume with green cloth spine binding with green paper boards, gilt lettering on spine and cover decoration, top edge of text block gilt. Condition of each volume is VERY GOOD: Spines lightly worn, covers more worn and lightly soiled, corners lightly bent. Foxing on outer edge of text block and on edges of text, binding fine. Small bookplate of David B. Ogden on inside of front cover. " Of this limited letterpress edition seven hundred and fifty copies have been printed and the type has been distributed." Vol. 1: spine faded, lower edge of front cover dented. Vol. 2: Spine lightly faded, heavy soiling on front cover.

Foxing on outer edge of text block and on end papers, top edge of text block is darkened, pages clean, binding fine. Bookplate of David B. Ogden on inside of front cover.

Each volume in green half calf binding with marbled boards, spine with red, brown and black binding with gilt lettering and five raised bands, marbled end papers, top edge of text block gilt. Condition of the book is VERY GOOD+: Spine of each volume is in near perfect condition, covers show some wear esp. to corners. Small bookplate of David B. Ogden on inside of front cover, light foxing on edge of text block and on edges of a few pages in each volume, binding very tight. Vol. 1- has a water stain on cover, some light lifting of the marbled cover board and overall shows slightly more wear than Vol. 2.

Signature in ink on second ffep. in Vol. 1 of David B. Ogden.
