Clean covers and spine; very slightly rubbed at spine end corners and cover fore corners; board just exposed at front cover top fore corner; some scraping and scratches on marbled paper at cover centers; tightly bound; contemporary ink signature on title page; occasional foxing interior and several pages age darkened at fore edges; all leaves remain supple. Limited edition print, One Hundred and Seventy - Five Bound in Boards were printed by D. B. Updike The Merrymount Press Boston in December, 1930. Soiling to title page, last set of signatures have a slight puckering to the bottom section from a tea(?) stain. Staining to boards, most of label on spine is missing. Includes fourteen black and white plates. Including Chloe Westcott, Canfield's wife who was later murder by a former disgruntled employee. ; Folio - over 12" - 15" tall .

Robert Sanderson was a 17th-century English bishop who served as the Bishop of Lincoln. Sanderson was known for his studies in logic whose research was even known to influence Isaac Newton. Author Izaak Walton, wrote a series of biographical 'lives' of notable English figures, wrote one on Sanderson entitled simply 'The Life of Dr Sanderson' in which he describes Sanderson's research and logic principles, as well as ecclesiastical positions.
This 1678 first edition of Walton's 'Life of Sanderson' includes some of Sanderson's own tracts and reports.

Martindale (Jesuit author, scholar, and Oxford philosopher). This first edition, only printing is a near fine copy, clean and complete with sharp corners.
