"Honest and reliable service - every book hand-packaged with care."

Kings, Queens, Emperors, Princes and Republics have from Biblical times rewarded their citizens and foreign friends with tokens of gratitude. Since the Crusades these have gradually developed into an institutionalized form of knighthood, which bound subjects to their rulers and cemented alliances. From the 14th century these awards have been associated with insignia. Collars, badges, stars and, uniquely in England, a garter became symbols of an Order. Made of gold and silver, enamelled and in some cases ornately encrusted with precious stones, the pieces have been a foil for the jeweller's art.The British Royal Collection has the most extensive holdings of insignia in the world - not only the wide array of British orders but… Read More

Description:
new endpapers text darkenedThe Case of the Post-nati was ready for trial in 1608 but no one court's jurisdiction was appropriate to hear the case. The prior "negotiation" conference model was again adopted. All the high judges of all the high courts were adjourned to the Exchequer Chamber to hear the case. This meant that Bacon represented the king as Attorney-General and addressed his pleading to all the nation's elite judges convened in the Exchequer Chamber. The dispute involved the deepest and most sensitive aspects of the new post-Tudor British government. The gravest problems concerning the boundaries between king and Commons, law and prerogative were at issue. This led the way for James of Scotland to become king of England. It is the basis of the law in the U.S. that people born in the U.S. are considered citizens.
