Dr. Gibbons was Professor of the Toland Medical College and Editor of the Pacific Meedical and Surgical Journal. Toxicity of "nictonia" and the depravity of conditions of public uses are described in frank language. Clean on inside, with few stains and chipping to covers ("Bakeing Powder, bacon, coffee, sugar" list in pencil on rear panel.

Although it was a disco, Area was a purely visual, happenings-based venue, where New York's art, music, design, fashion, and literary worlds collided; Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, or Jean-Michel Basquiat might be brushing up against Michael Forbes, David Byrne, or Georgio Armani, and Stephen Saban would be there to remind them what happened afterwards in his Details magazine column. Unlike other downtown clubs that focused on music or dancing, Area was driven by art and the scene that it engendered, through its theme nights, elaborate installations, and inventive flyers that seemed to embody Warhol's concept of business art. Lyon: Giraud et Rivoire, 1930. First Edition. Striking Bayard menswear catalogue from the fashionable French ski slopes of Grenoble. You might recognize the iconic image of the mysterious man in the trench coat and Fedora who appears on the cover of this catalog; a plethora of unauthorized vintage posters reproduce him. Often uncredited or listed ‘anonymous', the original artwork was actually designed by the successful and talented French fashion illustrator, Marcel Hemjic. So now we know. Quarto, bound in eye-catchingly stylish, illustrated wrappers, 10 pages, 10 full-page colour illustrations (masterfully printed in duotone), in near fine condition.

New York: C. S. Hammond & Co., 1917-18. Five section map, each section 82 x 57 cm, each section divided into four folding parts mounted on linen backing. The five sections fit together to create a grand cartographic image 168 x 130 cm (51 x 66 inches). Scale 1:316,800 (five miles per inch). Stock toned along folds and edges, yet state of preservation is remarkably good. Sheets published weekly over a five-week period between December 1917 and January 1918, the map shows the state of the battle lines at the end of 1917, including railroads, boundaries, roads, principal wireless stations, waterways, canals, various fortifications, aircraft depots, and cities. Since the sections are mounted on linen, the news coverage on verso of the sheets is not visible.

Manuscript election returns for the May 1884 election for city councilman for the five wards of the city of Richmond, Indiana. "We the undersigned Board of Inspectors of an Election for Councilman in the respective Wards of said City and comprising a Board of Commissions for said wards on Tuesday May 6 " 1884 under its proclamation of the Marshal of said City hereby certify that the following vote was cast ...". The names of the patronesses are printed: Mrs. Hartman Kuhn, Mrs. Harry McCall, Mrs. Charles Macalater, Jr., Mrs. Francis Peters, Mrs. George Blight, and Mrs. Edward Merrell. With this is a light pink sheet (16 x 12 cm.), folded and printed with the dates (Mon. Jan. 15, Tues. Jan. 30, and Thurs. Feb. 8) and times. The music began at 9:00, the German Cotillion was at 12:00, and the balls ended at 3:00. The Dancing Assembly of Philadelphia, also known as "The Assemblies," was established in the winter of 1748-49. Remaining an annual tradition into the 21st century, the Assembly Ball is the oldest continuously operating subscription dance in the United States. 1735. Fine. Handwritten parchment indenture (32 x 56 cm.). Ornate, armorial initial letter with motto "Honi soit qui mal y pense" in the garter. On Jan. 30, 1735, Edmund Deane of Greenwich, Kent Co., carpenter, transfers to William Deane of Deptford, Kent Co., distiller, one third of a property called Hockenden in the parish of St. Mary Cray, Kent Co., late occupied by William Hawes, deceased, and now occupied by his widow. It contains a house, barn, stable, carthouse, yard, garden, 3 orchards, and 4 parcels of arable land of about 8 acres. Signed by Edmund Deane with his seal. Blue 6 penny stamp in margin. Signed by witnesses Nicolas Stevens and John Cater on the reverse. In Fine Condition: clean and crisp.

Consisting of Five, 10 by 8 of b/w Ocean liners; Nineteen, 4.75 by 3.5 of Ocean liners and Tugs; 35 b/w photos of a wooden pleasure craft. One page of 6 photographs show the process of getting a boat of or a garage through the second story! Seven b/w photos of fish caught.

On the left, one clean tear of ~3 inches, may be mended. Some light chipping to ink at edges and similar light edge wear. "On August 11, 1984, President Ronald Reagan was preparing for his weekly radio address on National Public Radio. During a soundcheck he said, 'My fellow Americans I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that would outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes.' The audio was subsequently leaked. Despite making a joke about nuclear genocide, Reagan was reelected by a landslide a few months later."—Exhibition Annotation: Center for the Study of Political Graphics. Worldcat.org finds one copy at the University of Michigan and one at MoMA and none in trade. All posters are presently stored between acid free boards, flat, under weight. They will be shipped rolled, in tubes.

Paris: Saussine, 1865. Magnetic fortune telling board game, 21cm x 26cm. Constructed of painted wood and cardboard, significant wear, most notably to corners and extremities, the lid consists of the decorated top panel but has lost three of the four strengthening "lips" that would have firmly attached it to the base, although as a whole it is appreciably solid. A self-contained game in the form of a box with a painted glass and wood top with applied chromolithograph decoration, the magnetic blue bird moves beneath the window when a card and bone spinner with a metallic element is spun above it. The spinner has various fortune subjects written on it in French to "ask" the blue bird about. Once the bird stops spinning, its beak will be pointed at one of eight small circular lidded boxes affixed to the game surface (some of these are a trifle worn to the decorative paper covers, but still bright and attractive).
