Description:
1751 Paolo Sarpi History of the Council of Trent Catholic Roman Curia Protestant

Paolo Sarpi was a 16th-century Italian historian who is best known for his book 'History of the Council of Trent'. First published in 1619, this book focused on the administrative institutions of the Holy See, mainly the Roman Curia. And while the book was written to discuss the Catholic Church, it was mainly read by Protestants. In fact, British historian Denys Hay call it a "kind of Anglican picture of the debates and decisions" of the Catholic church.

Worth noting, Paolo Sarpi was a friend and scientific correspondent with Galileo Galilei.

"Love is a treacherous emotion. You will fare better without it. We Medici always have."
– Catherine de Medici

Catherine de Medici was an Italian Queen of France in the mid-16th-century. Author Henri Bouchot published an incredible 19th-century account of Catherine de Medici filled with absolutely stunning full-page engravings. This 1899 example is numbered no. 257 of 1000, bound in stunning red leather with marbled boards and gold-gilt spine.

Description:
1755 VOLTAIRE 1ed War of Austrian Succession King Georges War Netherlands 1741
"Let us read and let us dance; these two amusements will never do any harm to the world."
― Voltaire
Voltaire was a versatile and prolific writer, producing works in almost every literary form, including plays, poems, novels, essays, and historical and scientific works. He wrote thousands of books and letters, and frequently made use of his works to criticize intolerance, religious dogma, and the French institutions of his day.
However, Voltaire wrote many other works that were infrequently published and rarely read, as was the case with his "History of the War of 1741". This historical commentary was Voltaire's reaction to the War of Austrian Succession, or King George's War, which was curiously not included in any Voltaire complete works of the 18th- and 19th-century, nor was it published during his lifetime.

Oliver Cromwell was one of the most famous and important 17th-century English military leaders during the English Civil War. His life, political career, military acumen, and historical impact have been written about and recorded for centuries. English author John Bancks published an account of Cromwell's political influence in his "Short Critical Review of the Political Life of Oliver Crowmell". While it focuses primarily on Cromwell's politics, it includes his influence in the English Civil Wars, particularly after the death of the king.
