Marcus Brennan is a successful small-town lawyer on the verge of a breakdown. His wife, Schelle, thinks it's post-traumatic stress disorder from his years as a POW in Vietnam. Planning the dedication of a memorial for Vietnam soldiers, she asks Marcus to say a few words at the ceremony, hoping the experience will help to exorcise his demons. But after agreeing to defend Estella Pritchett, a social worker accused of murdering her lover, Marcus begins a downward spiral into the murky depths of his own past–where sex is violent, where love means betrayal, and where his own memories have the power to destroy him. . .

Many of my books are from the 19th Century. Books were not written in at that time, instead an index card with info. Am enclosing the one found in this book for you. Enjoy.
The stirring drama of the Civil War and Reconstruction is brought vividly to life in this really magnificent novel. Unparalleled drama, action and romance flower within the breathtaking wonders of this inspired spectacle of the written word and the most magnificently, exciting love story, ever! First published in 1936, Gone with the Wind sold 50,000 copies on its first day, and two million after a year. Even though it is 1,037 pages long, readers all over the world snatched up the book; by 1937 it was awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the film rights had been sold to David O. Selznick. Grisham's first book, written and published while he was still working as a lawyer and serving in the Mississippi State Legislature. Grisham's book was turned down by a number of publishers, and was finally picked up by the tiny Wynwood Press, which did a modest first printing of 5000 copies. The book didn't sell well, probably because the small publisher was virtually unknown, especially for publishing fiction, and also lacked marketing dollars. When Grisham's second novel, The Firm, was bought by Doubleday and published in 1991, copies of the first printing of A Time to Kill were still available from the publisher.
Personal note: I recently saw an interview with Grisham on TV, discussing his accomplishments and this particular book. The reporter asked him about the 5000 books, printed. Grisham replied that he, personally bought… Read More
