A little foxing, mostly to the page margins, on the first and last few pages otherwise a fine copy in a fine leather binding by W. H. Smith of London. Half dark brown morocco, spine with raised bands, ruled in gilt. Compartments double ruled and lettered in gilt. Brown cloth on boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. Previous owners neat 3 line inscription, dated 1944, on front blank free endpaper. An interesting and beautiful edition with the plates showing not just characters from the tale but also views of the towns, villages and views around Exmoor that act as a backdrop for the novel.
