"A most valuable and important book for the sporting life of the period .. though containing only 12 plates, this first edition is more rare, and more valued higher than the second edition" (Tooley 66 cf Schwerdt I p.38). Three plates of this edition (2, 8 and 9) did not appear in the second edition. *Apperley had been Mytton�s neighbour in Shropshire. His task "was to write the life of a man who, while he was one of the most heroic sportsmen that ever lived, was also drunken, diseased and insane .. he performed the task with admirable judgment" (Camb. With 19 beautiful hand-colored aquatint plates. Binding lightly scuffed, rubbed at extremities, with a 2-inch split at the top of the outer front joint, though binding remains strong. Previous owner inscription to first blank, sporadic foxing to tissue guards, and one tissue guard is lacking a corner. Contains all six numbers of [all published] of this rare sporting magazine.

Previous owner name stamped in gilt on front cover, in black on text block edge, and written on title page, with another owner's bookplate to front paste down. Good. Rubbing to cloth, wear to leather spine with large chip missing at the head. A scarce instruction course in ordnance and gunnery prepared for cadets of the Untied States Military Academy.

Paris: Christian Dior, 1966. First Edition. Near Fine. First edition, limited to 1,000 copies, this being #417. Buff cloth covered boards with titles printed on marbled paper onlay. Near Fine, light foxing, light toning, previous owner bookplate to front paste down, small stray ink mark to rear paste down. An illustrated hunting journal/checklist for the hunter to denote what game was won, with lines to denote the guns used and observations. Text in French.

Charles Cotton and Izaak Walton's 'The Complete Angler' was an important and extremely popular game and hunting book from 1653. Walton sought to celebrate the everyday fisherman and hunter, providing tips, tricks, and first-hand observations on fishing, and hunting through the lens of a conversation between two fictional anglers.

This 1784 edition includes woodcut illustrations most of which depict fish and fishing tackle.It was edited by John Hawkins, and the Hawkins editions are some of the best of all 'Angler'
editions.
