Description:
1860 1ed Pianoforte by Edward Rimbault Romantic Classical MUSIC Piano JS BachFew inventions have so greatly influenced a society as the piano in the 19th-century. During this time period, the piano was the focal point of parlor gatherings, parties, and of course, the concert hall. Edward Rimbault, and English organist, published his own account of the development and influence of the piano on European society and music. This work, 'The Pianoforte' as it is simply known, describes the origins of keyed-string instruments, the construction of the instruments, and charming illustrations depicting the piano. This work is incredibly rare. It was only printed once in 1860 and was a limited run, many of which were given to notable piano makers, teachers, and performers in Europe and America.Item number: #5569Price: $599RIMBAULT, Edward FThe pianoforte : its origin, progress and construction, with some account of instruments of the same class which preceded it ... to which is added a selection of interesting… Read More

Description:
1840 HANDEL Dettingen Te Deum Classical Music Austrian Succession WAR

Alongside Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frederic Handel was one of the two greatest Baroque music composers. Best known for his 'Messiah', Handel was responsible for hundreds of pieces of music, many of which were written with liturgical texts. Handel's 1743 masterpiece 'Dettingen Te Deum' was written in honor of the British victory at Dettingen in the War of Austrian Succession.
Handel, who had become proud of his English home, wrote this setting of 'Te Deum' for the day King George II appointed a day of celebration in honor of the victory. Like many of Handel's works, it features chorus, full orchestra, and solos.
This Varey edition of Handel features a piano reduction as well as the choral and solo parts.
