This book is an antique. It is in good condition considering it is over 100 years old. There is some wear to the cover and scuffing. The corners are also worn. Pages are tanning and spotted. A rare historical account of the Sacrament of Miracle by Petrus Cafmeyer. The Sacrament of Miracle, also known as the Brussels Massacre, was an anti-Semitic riot in Brussels in 1370 in which a number of Jews were killed and banished from Brussels in connection with a host desecration at the synagogue. Christians claimed that a Jew stabbed a host and was not harmed – an event that lead to the establishment of the Cult of the Miracle.

This rare 1720 first edition was written by Petrus de Cafmeyer and published in Brussels. Illustrated with 21 fascinating engravings depicting scenes from the massacre.

1499 Mantuanus Poetry + 1507 Satires of Persius Post-Incunable Satyrae ROME Roce

Along with Juvenal, Persius was one of the greatest 1st century Roman satirists. His works consisted of elements of stoicism and were greatly influenced by Horace and Juvenal, in fact the satires of both Juvenal and Persius are often found published together. In his 'Satires', Persius sought a few major philosophical ideas:

This 1507 post-incunable printing of Persius's 'Satyrae' was published in Paris by Jean Barbier and Denis Roce. This edition was edited by Giovanni Britannico, a 15th-century grammarian who is best known for his edition of Persius.

'Flores Doctorum' is a 13th-century work on philosophical theology by Thomas of Ireland.

'Flores' was an anthology of short maxims and excerpts from other writings from classical authors. It filled a role for clergymen who were seeking answers and advice on preaching and gave relevant answers for sermons. This rare 16th-century edition was published in Lyon by Rouille and is bound in original vellum binding.
