Washington: Government Printing Office, 1939. First Edition. Hardcover. Text block pulling from covers a bit but still very tight; some spotting to leather. Near Fine in a custom clamshell box. Specially bound in black morocco leather, covers with single-fillet gilt border, front cover gilt-lettered; blue watered silk linings, the front lining centering the Presidential seal stamped in gilt. Illustrated with photos; 47 pages. INSCRIBED BY THE PRESIDENT TO HIS SON on the front endpaper: "FDR Jr. from FDR 1939." Included in the text is FDR's address on pages 35-42. One of the scarcest of the Christmas book series, this title has neither a printed nor autograph colophon, and the number of copies made remains unknown. Roosevelt, Jr. was a successful congressman (1949-1954) who twice ran for governor of New York and who was a close friend and early backer of John F. Kennedy. Washington DC, 21 May 1953. Framed Letter. Fine, attractively framed. On 8-1/2" x 11" United States Senate stationery to John Keegan thanking him for his views "concerning the security test for federal employees" and promising to consider them "should legislation be brought before the Senate." SIGNED at the conclusion with the following 21 words added in Kennedy's hand: "I am having a study made of the new program at the present time and shall bear in mind your comment." The last 3 words are on the other side of the paper. Attractively framed to an overall size of 18" x 18" with a small portrait of Kennedy and allowing both sides of the letter to be viewed. If you care, and you shouldn't, this piece comes with a PSA/DNA COA that the previous owner purchased for $200.

HATFIELD BOOKS AND MEMORABILIA, a FIVE STAR SELLER, presents a VERY RARE ASSOCIATION COPY of the 1828 collection of historical Scottish prose and verse, JACOBITE MINSTRELSY. Though yet unverified, the early owner, signed Edward Sugden, is presumably EDWARD SUGDEN, First Baron of St. Leonards, Lord Chancellor of Ireland under both King William IV and Queen Victoria, and (for one year only) Lord Chancellor of Great Britain under Queen Victoria. 1828 is the stated publishing date, while 1829 appears in Roman numerals on title page, making this a very early printing. 3 1/4" x 5 1/4", 362 pages, plus 8 pages of index. No jacket as designed. Cover is marbled grey and brown boards with ¼ bound brown cloth, including at corners, titled in gold gilt on the binding. The front cover is separated, making the overall condition Very Good rather than Near Fine. A note follows the final printed page: "Robert Malcolm, printer." Very Good softcover. Staple bound with pictorial thin card covers. Front cover is bright and clean with full autograph signatures of New York Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller and of New Jersey Governor Richard J. Hughes in blue ink; rear cover is bright and clean but for few small, light coffee stains and very slight age darkening at tail edge; tightly bound; bright, clean interior; rear pocket is intact with three color reproductions of the bridge in Fine condition. Cf, OCLC #10504670 "Brochure on the history, design and construction, engineers, etc., involved, from the original opening of the George Washington Bridge in 1931 to the opening of the second deck of the George Washington Bridge in 1962.". Original envelope from Port of New York Authority laid in is scuffed, lightly soiled with chips and tears along edges.

SIGNED by Watts, Hefner, Larry Flynt, Bunny Yeager, and Dita von Teese in black ink to ffp and title page. Black paper with gilt particulars to spine. Dust jacket protected in mylar. Both color and black and white illustrations in sections throughout text. These signatures were collected by the previous owner who attended a performance by von Teese, an exhibition opening at the NSU Art Museum, Fort Lauderdale for Bunny Yeager, at a Los Angeles Barnes & Noble signing event for Hefner and Watts (December 16, 2008; flyer included), and at a signing event at Books & Books in Coral Gables for Flynt (June 3, 2011). ix, 529 pp. 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches.
