Munich: Dreilander Verlag, 1920. Collection of 38 issues of the landmark Weimar-era periodical highlighting fantasy, horror, and early science fiction stories. Text in German. One of the world's first fantasy periodicals, (alongside the Swedish "Hugin") "Der Orchideengarten" featured a mix of new German stories alongside translations of foreign literature (largely French), including works by Victor Hugo, Guy de Maupassant, Voltaire, Charles Dickens, Edgar Allan Poe, Joseph Capek, H.G. Wells, and many others. The magazine also made forays into the proto-science fiction genre, as seen in Vol. 2 No. 4, entitled "Phantastik der Technik." Williams's 1969 novel. Director Sam Peckinpah and screenwriter David Z. Goodman kept only the central concept of the siege itself, but completely altered the circumstances around it, including the creation of the film's controversial rape scene. Ten of these are signed and dated by Coupon at the bottom right, and one bears a tag on the verso, noting, "Two Dancers, Studio 54, August, 1978." Images of Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, Grace Jones, Patti Smith, and Divine are included in the collection, along with a variety of other glamorous and fascinating visitors to the exclusive New York night club. Coupon's Studio 54 photographs were included in the International Center of Photography exhibition "Fleeting Gestures: Treasures of Dance Photography" in late 1978, his first major exhibition. Based on the 1959 French play by Jean Anouilh. King Henry II's malcontent relationship with the Church leads to the appointment of his close friend Thomas Becket as the Archbishop of Canterbury. Henry does not anticipate, however, how seriously Becket will take the vocation, leading to the dissolution of their friendship in the face of Becket's rising political power. Archive of 63 vernacular color photographs of the scene of the crash of commercial United Airlines Flight 173 that occurred on December 28, 1978 in suburban Portland, Oregon. Likely shot by an investigator or airline employee, the photographs in this archive depict a comprehensive survey of the scene of the crash, including images of the plane's fuselage, the severed wings, and the surrounding area. The flight, from JFK in New York en route to Portland, experienced a malfunction in the deployment of its landing gear, and the plane circled the airport seeking a solution until it ran out of fuel and crashed, killing ten passengers and injuring another 24. With director Luis Buñuel's annotations in manuscript pencil and ink throughout, noting changes and additions to dialogue, and the name of Russian-American director Victor Stoloff in manuscript ink on the front of the folder housing the script. Stoloff was associated with Buñuel during Buñuel's brief sojourn in America, and is interviewed in the 2000 documentary "Buñuel in Hollywood." Included with the script is an English translation of Buñuel's revisions. An impossibly rare script for Buñuel's masterpiece, and the penultimate film the director made in Mexico. Tokyo: Shinchosha, 1988. Draft script for the 1988 Japanese animated film. Text and titles in Japanese. Based on Akiyuki Nosaka's semi-autobiographical short story, following the final days of two Japanese children during World War II. Nosaka purportedly heartily approved of the choice to adapt his story as an animated film, noting that he believed it would have been impossible to create the bleak backdrop or find child actors able to create a film of the subject in any other way. The second film animated by Studio Ghibli, best known for its animated films directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Set in Kobe. Black titled wrappers. 64 leaves, with last page of text numbered 124. N.p.: N.p., 1960. Vintage satin banner with hand-sewn lettering, by an unknown artist, made after Paul Krassner and John Francis Putnam's 1963 poster. Krassner created the "Fuck Communism" poster for sale through his satirical underground magazine "The Realist," with typography by longtime "Mad" magazine art director Putnam. In addition to publishing The Realist from 1958 to 2001, Krassner was a founder of the radical activist group the Youth International Party (The Yippies) and an early member of Ken Kesey's Merry Pranksters. In the words of occasional Realist contributor Kurt Vonnegut, "At the beginning of the 1960s, FUCK was believed to be so full of bad magic as to be unprintable. [...] By having FUCK and COMMUNISM fight it out in a single sentence, Krassner wasn't merely being funny as heck. He was demonstrating how preposterous it was for so many people to be responding to both words with such cockamamie Pavlovian fear and alarm." 36 x 14 inches. Near Fine.

INSCRIBED by screenwriter Sam Shepard and director Wim Wenders, respectively. First issue, without the Ecco Press device on the rear panel, and lacking the credit on the front panel that reads, "Written by Sam Shepard" (and) "Adaptation by L.M. Kit Carson," appearing on all subsequent issues. Wim Wenders' definitive film as a director, with an original screenplay by Sam Shepard that stands among his finest work as a novelist and a playwright. The film won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1984. This book, published simultaneously with the film, begins with a transcription of the final script in English, German, and French, and the last two-thirds present stills from the film alongside photographs taken on location by Wenders. Designed and illustrated by noted fashion artist Betty Brader, best known for her work for San Francisco specialty store Joseph Magnin, as well as her freelance work for Neiman Marcus in Dallas. Bay Area publisher Determined Productions was founded by Connie Boucher in 1961, largely creating licensed products-including some of the first Peanuts merchandise. The company quickly expanded, producing books and ephemera on a variety of topics, including astrology, the occult, and alcohol. With a vibrant, feminist overtone, the calendar on offer here features illustrations of women from around the world posed in bright and nationally specific garments, with text focusing on the way language is often used to discriminate against women. Annotations in manuscript pencil on the title page of the First Draft and cast pages of the Second Draft Shooting script. A musical spoof of John Huston's classic 1941 film noir "The Maltese Falcon." Screenwriter Frank Saletri, a criminal defense lawyer in Los Angeles, worked as a part-time screenwriter and producer, primarily of exploitation (especially blaxploitation) films. Saletri's screenwriting work was largely unproduced, with the exception of the 1973 film "Blackenstein," and the possible exception of "Black the Ripper," a questionably apocryphal film whose existence has been debated for decades among grindhouse fans.
