Warmly inscribed and signed by the author in year of publication to Anna Bing Arnold, notable Los Angeles millionaire patron of the arts: "For Anna, with my love, Elmer, Stanford, July, 1963." Very Good Plus, in a Very Good dust jacket that has a 3/8" chip at the top right corner of the back panel and moderate fading of the spine panel.

Victor Gollancz Ltd. London. 1932. TWO FIRST EDITIONS. One is the hardcover cloth bound issue and the second is the paper issue. Small 8vo. (7.5 x 4.5, cloth bound volume, 7.3 x 4.3 - Paper bound). Both are Inscribed by Crankshaw, the paper volume to Theatre critic Kenneth Tynan, and dated 1956, the cloth bound to Crankshaw's brother in law, Ernest Carr, in 1932. A comics-like pencil sketch by Clare Dwiggins INSCRIBED AND SIGNED "Dwig" on front pastedown. Text is profusely illustrated throughout by Dwiggins.

Book is near-fine: text is clean and bright (appears unread) with very nice corners and rich coloring on the boards.
