An early edition in a dust jacket with a promo for the movie version with Gary Cooper. Blue cloth with gilt lettering and points on pps. 9, 321, 480 and 381 are present. Dust jacket is not clipped and has $3.00 price. The spine cover has a bit of a crease and maybe very light fading. Contents are clean and binding is tight. The dust jacket has some chipping, rubbing and the spine crease. Although not a true 1st, a very nice early copy.

Points include publisher address 319, 4 boys on frontis, 3 full page illustrations, 296pp. Covers and spine are extremely rubbed, soiled and faded with a small tear in the cloth around the gutter. There is a gift inscription to the original owner, foxing and possibly some staining to contents. Hinges are barely attached and binding is broken but pages are still present and not completely detached.Loring

Leather covers are worn with some residue from some type of plastic used to protect the cover. The spine cover is missing a large chip but it is present. It is detached on one side but is 90% or so present. Binding is intact but loose, there are pencil notations on the FFEP but otherwise text is clean and text block is reasonably tight.

Wellington: George Didsbury, 1892. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. The covers are soiled especially the spine and around the margins of the front and back cover. There is light foxing to the text and edges with the endpapers and title page more heavily foxed. Both maps are present and in very good condition. Gilt lettering on the cover is bright.

Guilford, Conn: Lyons Press. Limited Edition. Hardcover. As New/as new. This is #515 of a limited edition of 885 published to support the Big Hole River Foundation. Included is a limited edition print by Dave Whitlock which is signed by George Grant, founder of the Foundation. The book and jacket are as new and the dust jacket is now in a mylar cover.

Hartford, Conn: American Publishing Company, 1874. Hardcover. Good/None. Early printing of the first edition which was printed in 1870.The front cover is quite faded and soiled but the gilt still is present and the rear cover has two small holes in the cloth. The spine is more faded and the gilt is very dull and the cloth has rubbed through at the very top and bottom of the spine. There is a light brown stain on approximately 50 pages starting ar page 53-maybe coffee-but there is only minimal evidence of moisture damage. The remainder of the contents are clean and tight. There is some soiling to the edges of the text block

New York: A.L. Burt, n.d.. Reprint Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. The covers are quarter bound leather over marbled boards with gilt lettering on the spine. The covers show rubbing which enhances the period appearance. Endpapers are marbled, gilt top edge, clean contents and a tight binding. This edition was part of the "Burt's Library of the World's Best Books" series and, unlike the typical A.L. Burt reprint, is bound in a high quality binding.

New York and London: Harper & brothers, 1907. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. This appears to be an early state or a mixed state with the following points: Christian Science is not on the list "Uniform Edition of Mark Twain's Works" page iii which contains 17 titles, Frontis is dated 1906. Page 3 has farm-houses and is spelled correctly and page 5 has the "W" in why in bolder type, list of illustrations is set in 6 lines not 8 all of which seem to represent a later state.
